2007 WSC Qualifiers Modalities

This is to inform all players and State Officials that the NSF Technical Committee has come up with the 2007 WSC Qualifier/ selection modalities . All other details will be communicated to you as it unfold.

  1. There will be only one WSC Qualifier (QF) Tourney to be held in July 2007 20th-22nd. Twelve (12) players and any of our foreign based players who can make it to the country during this time will be invited to play in the qualifier.
  2. Before the WSC qualifier, it is envisaged that we should play some National Open tournaments, and only players who would have participated in at least 50% of these Tourneys and would not have fallen below 16th position on the rating list before the end of July (just before the list of invitees for the QF is released) will qualify to be invited. Foreign based players need only show evidence of current form.
  3. Winners of all the National Open tournaments (or winners of the Masters Category) would be invited to the QF, the remaining players will be selected from our National ratings as at end of July 2007. Four reserve players may be considered for invitation from the rating list just in case any of the invited players fail to show up.
  4. The qualifier will be an 18 games tournament. The mode of play shall consist round robin games, swiss and KOH games which shall be dependent upon the number of players available during the QF.
  5. Qualifiers will be selected as follows:
  6. No.1 qualifier shall be the winner of the June QF provided he does not fall below the top five on the ratings after the QF
  7. No.2 qualifier shall be the No.1 ranked player on the National ratings list as at the end of the QF.
  8. No.3 qualifier shall be the No.2 ranked player on the rating list after the QF.
  9. Please note that rankings 1,2 or 3 shall continue to shift downwards depending on the positions of No.1, No.2 or No.3 Qualifiers on the National Ratings

  10. That two reserve players will be selected and placed on the waiting list for the purpose of replacement before travelling for the tournament.
  11. All players are hereby advised to affiliate with their different clubs in order to obtain their licenses, prior to the first Tourney of the year.
